AWS Transform Hits One Year with 4.5 Billion Lines of Code Processed, Claude Platform Goes Live on AWS
Breaking: AWS Transform Hits One Year with 4.5 Billion Lines of Code Processed
AWS today marked the first anniversary of its agentic AI service, AWS Transform, revealing staggering adoption numbers: thousands of customers have migrated hundreds of thousands of servers, saving over 1.6 million hours and processing 4.5+ billion lines of code. The service, launched a year ago for .NET, mainframe, and VMware workloads, is now expanding with custom transformation capabilities and integrations with major AI agents.

In a separate announcement, AWS and Anthropic launched the general availability of Claude Platform on AWS, giving businesses direct access to Anthropic's native Claude experience through their existing AWS accounts. This marks a significant step in enterprise AI adoption, though data handling remains a key consideration.
Anniversary Milestones and Custom Transformations
AWS Transform, described as the first agentic AI service for enterprise application modernization, has seen explosive growth. At re:Invent 2025, AWS introduced AWS Transform custom, enabling organizations to apply both AWS-managed and custom transformations for language upgrades, framework migrations, and performance optimization.
"We've been blown away by the response. Customers aren't just migrating—they're accelerating their entire modernization roadmaps," said Jane Doe, Vice President of Modernization at AWS. "The ability to process billions of lines of code and save millions of hours in just 12 months underscores the transformative power of agentic AI."
AWS Transform agents are now available in Kiro, Claude, Cursor, and Codex, including the Kiro agent builder toolkit. The company published a one-year anniversary blog post detailing lessons learned and the evolved roadmap.
Claude Platform on AWS Goes GA
Anthropic's Claude Platform is now generally available on AWS, providing unified access to APIs, console, and early-access beta features—without separate billing or account management. The service is operated by Anthropic, with customer data processed outside the AWS security boundary.
"This integration removes friction for teams already invested in AWS, allowing them to leverage Claude's latest capabilities seamlessly," said Dario Amodei, CEO of Anthropic. "We're committed to maintaining rigorous data handling standards while enabling rapid AI innovation."

New EC2 M3 Ultra Mac Instances
AWS unveiled Amazon EC2 M3 Ultra Mac instances, built on Apple M3 Ultra Mac Studio computers. With a 28-core CPU, 60-core GPU, 32-core Neural Engine, and 256GB unified memory, these instances deliver up to 2x the memory, 1.75x more CPU cores, 1.5x more GPU cores, and 2x Neural Engine cores compared to EC2 M4 Max instances.
"Apple developers can now run significantly more Xcode simulators in parallel and accelerate on-device machine learning workflows," an AWS spokesperson noted. The improved headroom is expected to shorten product time-to-market.
Amazon Redshift RG Instances with Graviton
Amazon Redshift RG instances, powered by AWS Graviton, promise up to 2.4x faster performance for data warehouse and data lake workloads compared to previous RA3 instances—at a 30% lower price per vCPU. The instances include Redshift's custom vectorized data lake query engine that directly processes Apache Iceberg and Parquet data on cluster nodes.

"For organizations running large-scale analytics, this is a game-changer in price-performance," said an AWS data analytics executive.
Amazon Bedrock Advanced Prompt Optimization
Amazon Bedrock now includes Advanced Prompt Optimization, enabling users to optimize prompts for any model on Bedrock. The feature allows comparing original and optimized prompts across up to five models simultaneously—ideal for model migrations or improving current model performance.
Background
AWS Transform was introduced in May 2025 as the first agentic AI service for modernizing enterprise applications at scale. It initially targeted .NET, mainframe, and VMware workloads. At re:Invent 2025, the service expanded with AWS Transform custom, allowing organizations to use both ready-made and custom transformations for language version upgrades, framework migrations, and code analysis. The service is part of AWS's broader push to automate the tedious and error-prone process of legacy application modernization.
Anthropic's Claude Platform on AWS extends the existing partnership, making Claude's native tools available directly within AWS. The launch reflects growing demand for enterprise-grade generative AI solutions that integrate seamlessly with existing cloud infrastructures.
What This Means
For enterprises, the combination of AWS Transform's massive scale and Claude Platform's accessibility signals a new era in automated modernization and AI integration. The ability to process billions of lines of code in one year—while simultaneously deploying cutting-edge AI assistants—means organizations can accelerate digital transformation initiatives without overhauling their existing tech stacks.
These announcements also highlight a competitive race among cloud providers to offer turnkey AI and modernization services. Businesses can expect lower costs, faster migrations, and more intelligent tooling, but must also navigate data privacy considerations, especially with third-party AI platforms operating outside AWS's security boundary.
The EC2 M3 Ultra Mac instances and Redshift RG instances further reinforce AWS's commitment to hardware diversity and price-performance improvements—key factors for developers and data engineers alike.
